MISSION STATEMENT OF THE CHURCH OF THE LIVING GOD OF NORTHERN VIRGINIA (FGM INC) 1996

VISION
“TO PREACH GOOD TIDINGS TO THE MEEK, BIND UP THE BROKEN-HEARTED, PROCLAIM LIBERTY TO THE CAPTIVES AND OPENING OF THE PRISON TO THEM THAT ARE BOUND” (ISA. 61: 1)

This vision came as a result of Pastor Rev. Kwasi O. Gyimah’s visitation he had in the month of June 1965. In this visitation, the Spirit of the Lord took him to an abandoned school building with trash all around it in a far country. The Spirit of the Lord said to him, “this is where we are bringing you to open it and put it together.” Then the Spirit left him. As he came to himself the words of Isaiah 61: 1 “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; He hath sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound.” These words were shut into his spirit. From that time on, our Pastor developed an intense desire to minister to the broken hearted and those that have been empty and still empty, to rebuild their empty houses (Temples) 1Co. 6:19) with the teaching of the word of God for them to realize their God’s given spiritual and physical potentials in life.  This driving force of God’s given assignment has yielded many fruits in the lives of many since 1965 and the Lord continues to intensify this burden within him. This therefore, is the main vision of the local branch of The Church of The Living God of Northern Virginia (NOVA) which is all also aligned with the Vision of The Church of The Living God Ministries – World-wide.  But then it takes a mission to accomplish this vision, thus the mission of the Church of The Living God of Northern Virginia is as follows.

OUR MISSION

The vision is being accomplished through the establishment of worship centers, programs/ministries within NOVA worship Center and surrounding vicinities.  FORMATION OF OUTREACH MINISTRY DEPARTMENT:  In Matthew 28: 18-20 Jesus said “…All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.”  In this passage we have the three fold vision – winning the lost; teaching them the word; and establishing them as temples firmly rooted on the solid rock – that is Jesus the Christ.

MOTTO
“GREATER WORKS IS OUR MISSION”
Here at the Church of The Living God of Northern Virginia, a local branch of the Church of The Living God – World-wide, GREATER WORKS IS OUR MOTTO to accomplish our vision. It is a vision to complement the overall vision of the Church of The Living God – World-wide, that is: “Rescuing the Perishing, and Caring for the Dying.”

  • That we will pursue to preach and teach the good    news unto the meek. (Is. 61:1b)

  • That we will pursue to bind up the broken hearted. (Is.61:1c)
  •  That we will pursue to proclaim liberty to the captives. (Is.61:1d)

  • That we will pursue to reclaim men and women from the prison of Satan. (Is.61:1e)
  • That we will do whatever it takes by the power of the Holy Spirit to re-establish, rebuild and empower every empty temple of the Holy Spirit. (Ac. 1:8)

HOW TO ACCOMPLISH OUR VISION

FORMATION OF OUTREACH MINISTRY DEPARTMENT:  In Matthew 28: 18-20 Jesus said “…All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” In this passage we have the three fold vision – winning the lost; teaching them the word; and establishing them as temples firmly rooted on the solid rock – that is Jesus the Christ.

(a) GENERAL DISCIPLESHIP:
Saint Paul once said in 1Co.3:10 “According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.” Therefore, immediate goal of the church is committing to disciple every member of the church, to seek for their Holy Ghost empowerment by studying of the word and prayer that would equip them for greater service.

(b) SPECIFIC DISCIPLING: (FOUNDATIONAL CLASS)
That all the adult population of the church will go through a well structured Foundational class where they will be taught the basic foundation of the church of Jesus Christ and its basic foundational doctrines.
A membership class will be set up to teach how Jesus would want us to live our lives in His earthly Kingdom and to be good stewards in the kingdom. (John 14:12; Acts 1:8; Matt. 10:1-8)

FAMILY AND MARRIAGE CLASS/MARRIAGE IN CRISIS:
Without a biblically strong family built on the word of God there will be no biblically strong church.  It is therefore, the commitment of Nova branch of CLG to help the family members know their respective rolls in their homes according to the word of God so that their homes would become a Godly disciplined place.  A special class has to be set up to reach that goal. The concentration of this class would be building a perfect foundation of the marriage. Those foundations that were not set right would be rooted out, pulled down, to destroy, and to throw down, and to rebuild on the “Rock”.  (Je. 1:10)  Intensive individual family counseling would also be offered by the Pastor for those families that would need such services.

LEADERSHIP TRAINING:
(Exodus 18:19-26; Mark 3:14-19)
A church without well trained leaders is bound for disaster. Here also it is my commitment to seek to train the leaders of the church by seminars, conferences, and explore every other avenue for leadership development.

CHILDREN AND THE YOUTH MINISTRY:
(Pr. 22:6; Deut. 4:9, 6:7-9,  11”19-21,  31:13; Is. 28:9-10)
The future of the church is dependent upon the Godly training impacted upon the children.  It is the commitment of the ministry at any cost to train the children and the youth.  A foundation the ministry acknowledges fortifies them against the influx of all adulterated “modernism”.  The vision to achieve this goal is the formation of a youth and young adult group called “The Ambassadors of Christ”.  A selected group of leaders gifted in teaching would be trained to take the burden of teaching these young people at a specific time on each Saturday.  Sports activities would be incorporated in this session so that it would be attractive to the young people.

YOUTH IN CRISIS:
In as much as the ministry would determine to train the youth does not mean that some of them would not fall into the cracks.  And if anyone does, a special counseling program will be set up to handle or help salvage those in crisis.
